Intel เปิดตัวหน่วยประมวลผล Xeon D-2700 และ D-1700 แบบ System-on-chip (SoC) สำหรับ Software-defined Network และ Edge
Intel Xeon D-2700 และ Xeon D-1700 ถูกพัฒนาขึ้นในลักษณะ System-on-chip (SoC) รองรับการขยายได้ 4 ถึง 10 cores บน D-1700 และ 4 ถึง 20 cores บน D-2700 รองรับการใช้งานหน่วยความจำชนิด DDR4 ความเร็ว 3200MHz มาพร้อม PCIe lane จำนวน 64 lanes เพื่อรองรับ Ethernet ระดับ 100Gbps
นอกจากนี้ยังมีการใส่เทคโนโลยีหลายๆตัวเข้ามา เช่น Intel Ethernet Intel QuickAssist Technology, Intel Software Guard Extension, Intel Time Coordinated Computing (Intel TCC), Time Sensitive Network (TSN) และสามารถประมวลผล AI ด้วย Intel AVX-512 โดยเป้าหมายหลักคือการนำไปใช้กับงาน Software-defined Network และ Edge Computing เช่น Security Appliance, Enterprise Router, Switches, Cloud Storage และ AI Inferencing โดยให้ประสิทธิภาพที่สูงขึ้นดังนี้
- เพิ่มความเร็วในการประมวลผล Visual Inference 2.4 เท่า
- ประมวลผลการทำงานของระบบเครือข่ายที่ซับซ้อน เช่น 5G UPF เร็วขึ้น 1.7 เท่า
- เพิ่มความเร็วการประมวลผล IPSec สำหรับ SD-WAN, SASE และ Edge เร็วขึ้น 1.5 เท่า
- เพิ่มความเร็วการประมวลผล TLS สำหรับ Application Delivery Controller และ Security Appliance เร็วขึ้น 1.8 เท่า
